Math was not hard for me up through 5th grade, but became harder in middle school. Having Deb as a tutor each week has helped me feel more confident in math. When she teaches something new, she always puts it into a game to practice. This makes it more fun.
Deb helps me to see the picture of what I am learning. I need to see things and how they are done to really understand the math. Also, writing it down in my math notebook really helps. I can go back and look at the concrete pictures again and remember what I did.
Caitlin – 6th Grade
I used to think math was torture or punishment. Now I see that it can be fun. Math can fit into all sorts of games. I’ve learned a lot of concepts with Deb. Addition and subtraction facts have always been hard for me, but Deb taught me a way to learn and remember them.
Luke – 6th Grade
It is very beneficial working with Deb. Math has always been my weakest subject. Now that I have started working with Deb, I feel that I have improved a lot in math. It also gave my confidence a boost to thrive and to not be embarrassed to say, “I don’t understand this. Can you help me with it?”
We do all kinds of stuff such as games. Even some of my weakest problems in math and my goals for those problems have been met. It is a very fun and helpful experience.
Annie – 6th grade
Math used to be hard for me in 4th grade, but it’s not anymore since I’ve been working with Deb. Now I don’t get confused or annoyed. Deb has me work at my own pace without getting bored. Now in class I’m at the same level with the rest of the kids.
Emma – 5th Grade
